As the trusted peak body, Timber Queensland stands tall to represent Queensland’s forest and timber industry, educating politicians, government departments, employer and environmental groups on the benefits of the timber industry and future opportunities.
We are committed to creating greater public and political awareness of the forest and timber industries, and are proud of our position as a powerful voice on political, technical, market development, industrial and environmental issues in helping key stakeholders understand the valuable economic and environmental contribution our industry makes make to Queensland.
As the united voice for the industry, Timber Queensland undertakes a range of activities to ensure our message is clear and provides a sound basis for better decision making and public understanding of the benefits of a strong forest and timber industry. These activities include:

submissions to Governments and Departments on policy and regulatory matters

direct representations and meetings with politicians, policy makers and community groups

representation on government and private sector advisory groups, panels and technical committees

working with allied organisations on common issues including with the building and construction industry

developing policies and projects for future growth (e.g. Timber Queensland election policy platform 2024)

hosting the Parliamentary Friends of the Queensland Forest and Timber Industry network

media activities across all platforms

applied research and development with universities, governments and other research providers

our biennial conference and symposiums on key topics
Delivering essential timber supply chains to meet Queensland's housing and building needs
Prior to the 2024 State Election Timber Queensland identified five broad policy areas for Government to act:
1. resource security for the native hardwood sector;
2. new investment drivers for plantations and farm forestry;
3. wood processing innovation and supply chain efficiency;
4. workforce development and training; and
5. indigenous forestry opportunities.
