Wood processing and timber manufacturing
The Queensland wood processing and timber manufacturing industry includes log processing and chipping, sawmilling, timber dressing and engineered wood product manufacturing through to furniture making and related industries such as bioenergy and further growth potential in high value biorefining.
Around 70 per cent of direct industry jobs are in sawmilling and wood and paper manufacturing, with over 250 timber manufacturing businesses in the state.
Sawmilling and wood product manufacturing also represent the third highest value agricultural processing industry in Queensland after beef and sugar production.
