Native Forestry Operations Capacity Building

Native forestry operations on state owned land in Queensland are subject to regulatory requirements covering a range of matters including (not limited to):

 Native Forestry Code of Practice on state land;

 Koala management;

 Environmental regulation;

 Workplace health and safety; and

 Cultural heritage.

Timber Queensland as the peak state body for the forest and timber industry has partnered with the Queensland Department of Agriculture and Fisheries (QDAF) to implement a project to build industry regulatory compliance capacity within the native cypress and hardwood sectors on state land.

An Industry Reference Committee (IRC) will be formed with relevant industry representatives and QDAF (observers). The IRC aims to provide expertise and facilitation to guide project direction, and support transition towards improved compliance capacity.
